Rosso di Montalcino
WINE
INFORMATION
Rosso di Montalcino DOC wine is produced in the area around the town of Montalcino in the province of Siena and is located in south-east Tuscany some 40 kilometers south of the city of Siena. In the 1960s, the decision was taken to categorize this wine with an appellation of origin, and the initial idea was to designate it as “Rosso dai Vigneti di Brunello”. Later, however, the wine was designated as “Rosso di Montalcino”, a name that is ingrained in its close ties to the local area. Rosso di Montalcino is appreciated for its fragrance and freshness, the result of primary (fruity) and secondary aromas (from fermentation). Rosso di Montalcino is a visibly clear, bright wine with a deep ruby red color. It has a characteristic bouquet and an intense and dry taste that is warm with pleasantly tannin overtones. Rosso di Montalcino goes well with first courses with sophisticated sauces and with cured meats, cheeses and simple meats. It should be served in a wide glass at a temperature of 16-18 °C.
