D53 is the Classic Cannonau DOC red wine from Sardinia, created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dorgali Winery, founded in 1953. It is the winery’s top wine, made from Cannonau grapes grown in vineyards at 450 meters above sea level in the countryside around Dorgali, a Sardinian village in the province of Nuoro, and cultivated using the “alberello” and spurred cordon system. It is a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. Mature red fruit, blueberry and raspberry jam embody the bouquet of this splendid Cannonau, while red flowers and spices complete the olfactory experience. In the mouth, it is warm, soft, full and balanced. The rich, well-balanced body enhances the spicy and fruity notes adding an ample, retronasal richness with a long and persistent finish on the palate. It pairs well with hearty dishes from Sardinian cuisine, it is excellent with medium and aged cheeses, with braised meat, game, roasts, red meat and dishes prepared with pork and wild boar.
